Chaser Support

Castle Benscoter Ventures LLC · Chaser

Chaser is a real-time nightlife app. It shows how busy bars are right now based on reports from people already inside, lets you see where your friends are, and helps your group decide where to go. Chaser is launching at the University of Cincinnati and is for people 21 and over.

If something is broken, confusing, or you need an account removed, email us. A real person reads every message.

Contact

We aim to reply within two business days. Please include your username and, if you are reporting a bug, what you were doing when it happened.

Delete your account

You can delete your account from inside the app at any time. You do not need to contact us first.

  1. Open Chaser and go to the Profile tab.
  2. Tap the settings icon, then Settings.
  3. Tap Delete account and confirm.

Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, check-ins, stamps, posts, comments, friendships, and saved preferences. This cannot be undone, and we cannot restore a deleted account. If you cannot access the app to delete your account, email us from the address on the account and we will do it for you.

Reporting and blocking

There is no tolerance for abusive behavior or objectionable content on Chaser.

Report a post or comment

Tap the menu on any post or comment and choose Report post, then pick a reason. Content that receives multiple reports is hidden automatically while we review it.

Block someone

Tap the menu on any of their posts and choose Block user, or open their profile and use the menu in the top right. Once blocked, you will not see their posts or comments, and they will not appear in search or on your map. They are not told that you blocked them.

You can review and undo blocks under Settings → Blocked users.

To report behavior that needs our attention directly, or anything that may be illegal or unsafe, email us at the address above and we will investigate.

Common questions

Why can’t I check in?

Checking in requires that you are physically at the venue — roughly within 150 feet — and that location permission is enabled. This is intentional: crowd data is only worth anything if the people reporting it are actually there. If you are at the bar and check-in still will not work, make sure location is allowed for Chaser in your iPhone’s Settings.

Why don’t I see any bars?

Chaser currently covers venues in the Clifton neighborhood of Cincinnati, near the University of Cincinnati. If you are outside that area, the venue list will be empty. We are adding more places as we grow.

Why does a bar show no crowd level?

When nobody has reported on a venue recently, Chaser says so rather than showing you a stale number. Some venues also show a “usually busy around now” estimate, which is a general expectation for that night and time, not a live measurement.

How do I stop sharing my location with friends?

Tap the ghost icon on the Map tab to turn on Ghost Mode. While it is on you disappear from your friends’ maps entirely, and they are not told. You can turn it off any time.

How do rewards work?

Checking in at a venue earns you a stamp on that venue’s bar card. Each venue decides what its rewards are, so a card will only show a reward once that venue has set one up.
